The challenge

To facilitate the digitization of heritage collections, i2S scanners were installed at 18 different locations in Belgium. As a result, each province manages its own collections.

They launch a digitization project to facilitate the diffusion of documents between each province and ensure preservation & access to these documents for future generations.

Advantages

Scanned images are made available to the public via the Internet and available for internal purposes via the intranet.

The General Archives of the Kingdom of Belgium selects the i2S scanners because they have various competitive advantages:

- no integrated lighting

- self-opening glass plate with secure pressure adjustment to preserve old books

- software assisting scanners and remote management of scanners
