National Library of France

Because knowledge should be within everyone’s reach, the French National Library has decided to make cultural heritage more accessible to the general public. This is a recognized civic commitment, but one that has reached its limits with the use of photocopiers: old or bound works wear out quickly (face turned over, crushing), with limited ergonomics (you can’t see what’s being reprographed).

Approach & Solution

The BNF is equipped with several eScan Open System- A3.

In partnership with SEDECO and SPPIGRAPH, i2S is equipping the BNF with 12 first-generation eScans in 2009.
These digitization solutions, installed on four sites, enable the public to ask a Bibliothèque Nationale de France operator to make a high-quality print copy of an extract from a work, the only output mode authorized by the institution.
Despite the evolution of smartphone performance and strong competition in book scanning, i2S and its partner Spigraph once again won the confidence of SEDECO and installed 18 eScan Open Systems (new generation of the range) on the same four sites of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
