The Center's goals are to develop OCR conversion, to digitize much larger collections and integrate a glossary. For i2S, the main challenge was how to OCR the parts of the texts containing Gothic characters (Fraktur).

I2S products

Today, the Preservation and Digitization Center employs 8 operators and uses:

  • 2 SupraScan II scanners
"We have fragile collections and the i2S scanners are perfectly suited for the digitization of this type of work"

Mailis Bremer – Laamanen, Director of the Center for Preservation and Digitization
